*** colourfix colour - your choice but if applying acrylic, ink, watercolour or oils undercoat then white or clear colourfix paper is best. Choice of colours will be determined by your photo reference.
- If you would like to try oil paint undercoat bring suitable colours in oils ex determine this from your photo reference. Bring odourless turps, brushes, rag, liquin or liquol unless you use *Alkyd oils and palette to mix colours. *NB Alkyd oils dry very quickly(have liquin built in them), I use this in the demonstration they are more intense in colours than acrylic but thinner so they do not lose the tooth of the paper. Can purchase these from Musgraves Stationers and Art, Southport PH: (0755 314010)
(Oil paints I like to use for portraits are: Winsor &Newton professional quality - Raw sienna, yellow ochre, naples yellow, cad yellow, cad red, permanent alizarin, burnt sienna, raw umber, burnt umber, sap green ivory black,A.S. cobalt violet, indian red and Winton soft mixing white.)
** NB if using Winsor and Newton Alkyd oils ( wonderful under pastel paintings as dry sometimes quicker than acrylics) use winsor red, cad red medium, alkyd permanent rose (wonderful for children's skin) or rowney rose madder (quinacridone) and permanent magenta, purple lake alkyd and their white. Brushes to suit (medium size and very small)
If you undercoat your painting with inks or acrylics then bring these and if you apply this undercoat on watercolour paper then bring some clear primer to put over surface before pastelling
